The New York Mets play host to the Los Angeles Dodgers from Citi Field on Friday night. Yes, both teams are battling for first place in their respective divisions. Now Dodgers vs Mets bets take a look at the National League rivals and who will win on Friday night.

The Dodgers are currently the slightest of road favorite s on Friday night mostly on the strength of their reputation as defending World Series champions. While the Mets have struggled lately, New York is dangerous despite falling 1.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies. Meanwhile, the Dodgers lead the San Francisco Giants by two games in the NL West and the San Diego Padres by 2.5 games.

Yes, take a look at our MLB 2025 recommended online betting sites list, and choose the best one for your MLB bets, and more. The Dodgers and Mets have played some memorable games over the years. Thankfully, the most refreshing news is that dry conditions are expected on Friday. If anyone watched the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers on Thursday afternoon, an umbrella was not enough but they got the game in.

So, with this big opener of a series, it is time to get down to business.

Let Us Open With A Table And A Table Setting Bet

The Dodgers vs Mets bets examine the game total and the moneyline first and foremost.  Yes, bettors are always on these things first. However, understandably a lot of people checked the weather given what it has been like on the East Coast the past few days. One could say it feels more like March or April compared to Memorial Day weekend.

Over 8.5 Runs -122 -120 -120
Under 8.5 Runs +102 EVEN EVEN

On the surface, if one glosses over the names and rosters this Friday night, most would automatically roll with the Dodgers, the spread, and probably the under on the game total. Hey! Not so fast here! Just because the New York Mets have had some difficulties scoring runs does not meant to count them out. New York could find the spark they are looking for against Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw got plagued with injuries and has not pitched a full season since 2019.

After 2024, where Kershaw started a mere seven games, bettors should be hesitant just going blindly to the Los Angeles side. Maybe Friday will be an improvement over his opening 2025 start but that looked nothing like the Kershaw many would expect. That was a five inning tightrope where Kershaw got tagged for five runs and three walks (only 2 K's). New York should be able to score a few runs on Friday night first and foremost.

Dodgers vs Mets Bets Like The Home Cooking

Alright, the Dodgers vs Mets bets like the home cooking. The Los Angeles Dodgers had won consecutive games and were fortunate to see the rest of the division drop some games along the way. Many forget the Dodgers are also at .500 over their previous 10 contests. That does surprise some pundits. Also, Los Angeles is only 12-11 on the road and have covered against the spread at under a .500 rate away from home.

The one worry for the Mets could be Griffin Canning himself. He did manage to keep it together enough against the New York Yankees last weekend to get a huge win. Canning went 5.2 innings allowing only two runs. Despite looking a little erratic, he scattered seven hits for his fifth win of the season in nine starts. The right-hander does tend to waste pitches and is typically hard pressed to get out of the sixth inning.

Betting on the Mets to get the victory is a bit of a walk on the wild side. One of the biggest problems New York has had lately is scoring runs and closing out games. That tends to be a bad combination normally but the Mets at least have appeared to right the ship somewhat. With cooler conditions and the wind blowing a little in, Canning and New York should be able to send the fans and some bettors home happy.

Friday Night Over Or Under?

The Dodgers vs Mets bets examine the Friday night over or under. With the upper limit 8.5 total here, that makes sense to tilt to the over. This will be a bit of an adventure. However, expecting a little more velocity on some of Kershaw's pitches could mean more and not less opportunities for the Mets to score. It is not to say the Dodgers will get completely shut down here. The Mets have had their issues in the bullpen and Edwin Diaz has improved since April but one never knows.

There is the feeling that the dams are about to break at Citi Field of all places. While this will not be earth shattering, a few more runs than usual would not be shocking here. Juan Soto is bound to make an impact similar to Francisco Lindor eventually. Even Pete Alonso figures to get in the act in what has been a very good start for him as well. The Mets do have bats and bats that can scare a less than 100% Los Angeles Dodgers squad.

Yes, I am running with the over of 8.5 runs at -120 odds with BetUS and BetOnline.
