The Yankees remain favorites over the Mets on Friday night mostly on the strength of their home record and reputation. It also does not hurt that no one else in the AL East is above .500. Even without Gerrit Cole, the Yankees keep on finding ways to win. The games have not always been pretty but then again, Bettors and fans do not give out style points. The Yankees and Mets are both 6-4 over their previous ten contests.

A Preview, A Table, And The Opening Wager
The Mets vs Yankees bets spotlight two main wagers - the game total and the moneyline. Yes, these are what fans look at first. Can the two teams take advantage of what will be pretty nice weather for a mid-May in New York City. Here is our table.
MLB Thursday Night | ![]() |
![]() |
![]() |
---|---|---|---|
New York Mets | +122 | +120 | +125 |
New York Yankees | -142 | -145 | -145 |
Over 9 Runs | -105 | -107 | -108 |
Under 9 Runs | -115 | -113 | -112 |
No one can be truly certain of what may happen on Friday night. This game is far from sealed. The Yankees trot out Carols Rodon. One small difference is the fact that Rodon has been much better in 2025 but so has Tylor Megill. Megill has begun to struggle some while allowing 3+ runs in three straight starts. Also, Rodon comes off a subpar start against the Athletics where he allowed four runs in six innings, including two long home runs.
Unfortunately, we are not touching the NRFI (No-Run First Inning) here with a 10-foot pole. Bluntly, there are better wagers to make like who will win on Friday night. Simply, we side with the Mets on Friday night.
Mets vs Yankees Bets Side With The Road Warriors
Okay, the Mets vs Yankees bets side with the road warriors. The Mets may not have the best road record in baseball. However, what they do have is a pitcher who can shut New York down. When one looks at Tylor Megill, immediately a big pitcher who can mow down opposing batters. The New York Yankees can be guilty of swinging too freely. Even though the Yankees average 5.83 runs per game, it is not uncommon to see a power pitcher confound them.
Then there are the Mets. Juan Soto returns to the Bronx where he had such a good year in 2024 with a sad ending. Soto has not had the best of starts hitting .255 with 8 homers and 20 RBI's. However, it is not the worst we have seen. The Mets offensively have been carried by Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso. Lindor leads the league in hits and Alonso in doubles and RBI's. At the least, Megill will have some offensive that feasts on fast balls and mistakes.
Betting on the Mets to lead is an option but Megill at 6+ strikeouts is a reasonable -130. Look to 7+ strikeouts around Even. So, the bigger risk may be on Carlos Rodon who may not get out of the sixth inning. That would be a number to look into. At +135, we feel that is more than worth a shot on Friday night.
What About Some Game Totals On Friday?
The Mets vs Yankees bets ask what about some game totals on Friday? With the upper limit 9.5 total here, that makes it easy to pivot to the under. This will not be easy. However, both teams are more than capable of getting to the bullpens early. It is why the temptation is as real as the potentially pleasant but muggy weather. Yes, the baseballs will carry.
There is the idea too that the bullpens may boost the offensive fortunes of both teams. The Mets bullpen has improved but Edwin Diaz can still be an adventure out there. Yes, the Yankees have three relievers who have given up 9+ runs on the 2025 season. Cue the offense and expect a few fireworks.
Okay, there is one other variable too. In case, no one has watched the news, there has been a lot of rain which has fallen in the New York City area this week. Temperatures are expected to be in the 70's on Friday but again very humid. Expect the ball to carry in these conditions.
Normally, I'd run with the over of 9.5 runs at +120 odds with BetUS. However, with both teams able to score 4+ runs, that is a prop which now is rising to +160. Thank you. We will take that gift!
